Variable ND Filter

A neutral density (ND) filter reduces light to control exposure, and a variable ND (VND) filter simplifies this process by allowing you to adjust the light reduction with a simple twist. The ProMaster Basis VND filter offers light reduction from 2 to 8 f-stops and can be adjusted to any point between. In both photography and videography, limiting light is essential for creative control. For instance, in still photography, a VND filter enables slower shutter speeds to create motion blur, like blurring water to suggest movement. In videography, where shutter speed is often fixed, a VND filter allows the use of a large aperture for shallow depth of field in bright conditions while maintaining proper exposure. Additionally, all ProMaster Basis filters feature the same filter thread on both sides, ensuring compatibility with lens caps and other filters. These filters are not only optically excellent but also affordable, offering outstanding value for photographers and videographers alike.

Ellie ★★★★★

Got it dialed in perfectly for a sunny day shoot—stopped down to 8 stops and still got clean, sharp footage without any weird color cast. The ring markings are clear and easy to read, which made quick adjustments a breeze. Exactly what I needed for video work outdoors.

Brian M. ★★★★★

I was a bit skeptical about variable NDs, but this one surprised me. The click stops make it easy to find the right density without getting color casts. It’s been a solid upgrade for my landscape shots.

Lily ★★★★★

Finally got this to pair with my 58mm lens, and the image sharpness stays consistent even when I crank it to the darker end. Perfect for nailing that silky waterfall look without packing multiple filters.
