A Hybrid Prime

Built to meet the rigorous demands of both still photography and videography, Canon's RF 24mm f/1.4 L VCM Lens is a fast, wide-angle prime crafted for full-frame RF-mount cameras. Its bright f/1.4 aperture, combined with an 11-bladed diaphragm, excels in low-light conditions and delivers beautiful, soft bokeh around subjects. This hybrid lens includes a video-optimized Voice Coil Motor (VCM) rear focus system with Nano USM for precise, near-silent autofocus. A dedicated manual iris ring and AF/MF switch provide enhanced control and quick adjustments. Part of the durable L-series, the lens is weather-resistant, offering protection against dust and moisture for reliable performance in challenging environments.

Optical Design

This lens features two ultra-low dispersion elements and one aspherical element, enhancing image quality while reducing chromatic aberrations. To significantly minimize ghosting and flare, Canon has applied a suite of coatings, including ASC (Air Sphere Coating), SSC (Super Spectra Coating), SWC (Sub Wavelength Coating), and a protective Fluorine coating, ensuring clear and vibrant results in various lighting conditions.

Additional Lens Benefits

A custom function button allows for quick adjustments by programming it to your preferred setting, streamlining operation while shooting. With a design of 15 elements in 11 groups, including two UD elements and one aspherical element, the lens ensures high image quality, and its 9.4" minimum focus distance is ideal for close-up shots. An attachable rear filter holder further enhances its versatility for creative effects.

Avery ★★★★★

The VCM motor makes focusing dead silent during video recording, which is a huge plus for me. Tack sharp even wide open at f/1.4, and the wide angle gives my real estate shots that dramatic look I was after.

Evelyn R. ★★★★★

I've been using this for a few weeks and the f/1.4 aperture really lets me shoot handheld in low light without bumping the ISO too high. The lens is surprisingly compact for an L-series, which makes it easy to pack for travel.

Isabella W. ★★★★★

The autofocus is whisper-quiet during video recording, which is a huge plus for my run-and-gun shooting style. The wide f/1.4 aperture lets in plenty of light for handheld shots at dusk without needing to crank the ISO.
