How to install a SmallRig NATO handle

1. Check your rig for NATO rails: Look for a NATO rail on your cage or rig. If you don't have one, you'll need to add a NATO rail accessory first. The handle clamps onto the rail, so this is a must. If your rig has no NATO rail, stop here and get one before proceeding.
2. Loosen the clamp and slide the handle on: Open the clamp on the handle, slide it onto the NATO rail, and position it where you want. For a side handle, decide whether you want it on the left or right side. For a top handle, center it over the camera's balance point. Don't tighten yet—you'll want to adjust the position after mounting accessories.
3. Tighten the clamp securely: Use the quick-release lever or thumbscrew to lock the handle in place. Make sure it's snug but not over-tightened. A common mistake is leaving it loose, which causes the handle to shift during shooting. Give the handle a gentle tug to confirm it's locked before you start shooting.
