عدسة Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S

I was worried the weight would be an issue for handheld shooting, but the VR system makes it surprisingly manageable even after a few hours in the field. The subject isolation at f/6.3 is fantastic for getting clean shots of distant birds against messy backgrounds.

That 800mm reach lets me frame a heron's eye from across the whole marsh, and the VR system keeps the shot steady even when I'm bracing against a tree.

The autofocus is lightning fast for tracking birds in flight, though the f/6.3 aperture makes me wish for a stop more light in early morning conditions. Still, the VR system works impressively well for handheld shooting at this extreme focal length.
